Einstein's Adult Life

Albert Einstein grew up in Germany and when he was 15 he finished his school year at the top of his class and then followed his family to Pavia, Germany. In 1895 he attempted to skip high school by taking an entrance test at the Swiss Polytechnic, a high tech university. Over the years that he was in school Einstein had developed a knack for math. He did very well in the science and mathematics departments, but failed the other portions of the test. So, Einstein went back to high school for two years and then went back to the University. This time he passed the test. He finished school and was very happy at this point in life. Now, with no one to tell him what to do, he was free.

"I want to know how God created this world. I am not interested in this or that phenomenon in the spectrum of this or that element. I want to know His thoughts; the rest are details." -Albert Einstein

Albert Einstein decided to re-join his family in Milan. He wanted to become a teacher. He ended up working in the Patent Office.  Most of his great theories were written while he worked there but not while he was at work. He studied and wrote his theories in his spare time!  Later he did get the chance teach.  For a while he liked this profession, but, "He became tired of teaching the same things day after day."

In 1921 Einstein received the Nobel Prize for Physics.

Later in that same year he was selected director of a new research institute in Berlin, Germany. He stayed there through World War 1 then moved back to America in 1933!

Albert Einstein had two wives. His second wife was his own cousin.

Einstein was more than a scientist.  He was also a passivist.   He wrote letters to President Roosevelt warning him of the danger of the new atomic bomb.  He believed that no one should ever use it.

You won't believe it but, he was offered the presidency of Israel. Einstein declined! He found it embarrassing to refuse, but he did.

Einstein lived an overall happy life and he died of natural causes April 18, 1955 in Princeton, New Jersey. He was eighty-six years old. Albert Einstein is known for his work and his brilliant mind. He helped and changed the lives of many people.
