The Killer Whale

keiko.jpg (7363 bytes) The Killer Whale is the largest member of the dolphin family. They eat squid, fish, seals, walruses, porpoises, sharks, and even larger whales.
They even have been seen tipping ice floats to catch seals or anything on them.

The females can grow up to 28 ft. in length and males can grow up to 32 ft. in length. That’s 8 of me! They live in all of the oceans.

The females give birth to a single calf 16 or 17 months after mating. The females carries their babies on their back and push them to the surface every 3 min. to help them breath.

They are black and white and have large dorsal fins. They rapidly swim more than 600 miles along a shoreline in a matter of days. Although they prey on warm blooded animal they are very kind to people. They are as long from the yardstick to Tracy.
