Transform Faults

Faults are when two plates move in opposite directions. These plates our always moving. When the two plates unlock, energy is released and that is what causes earthquakes. It's a prediction that in many years a slice of California might become an island. This picture shows 2 major plates; The North American Plate and the Pacific plate. One plate is moving north and the other is moving south.
