How Mountains Form

Materials

1) bath towel

2) 2 books

What to Do

1) Fold bath towel in quarters ( this represents the earth's outer shell )

2) Place books on opposite ends of the towel ( this also represents the earth's outer shell )

3) Move the books in and out creating mountians and valleys.

Concept

When two plates collide they can form moutains. This process is so slow we are not aware that this is happening until we see the result.
