Description and Habitat

Salamanders have four legs, a long tail, and smooth skin.This makes them easy to identify. Salamander, this word is a Greek word that means "a lizard like animal". Rivirs, woodlands, lakes,streams, and ponds,Salamanders live in a variety of these.People know very little about salamanders because their lives are secretive and quiet.Some species have decided to spend their entire lives in water, while most salamanders have their lives divided between land and water.

Just like fish some adult species of salamanders get oxygen from water and have gills.Exsept ones that live on land have developed lungs to breathe with.Most all salamanders can breathe oxygen through their skin.This which is porous and moist.Like other animals salamanders don't have to drink water.This is because their skin absorbs moisture(water).
