The amazing midwife toad

There are four different species of the midwife toad and they are fond all over the western Europe, North Africa,and Majorca.Shy ,nocturnal animals,they give away their presence by their ringing call. During the day the midwife toadhides in underground tunnels,under stones,and under logs.It often hides in dry sandy soil,which it finds easier to dig in,using its four legs and its snout to dig.It gets out of its hiding place at dusk to hunt for food and then returns to the same hiding place before dawn.During the winter the common midwife toad hibernates in its hole or a deserted burrow left by a small mammal.
