The fire salamander

The fire salamander requiers a habitat with plenty of sade and trees, they need plenty of moisture, and leaf arias. It can be found on hills at altitudes of 3200 feet. While salamanders seldom venture into water, they need to be near a source of water ,so when they lay their young they are not laying them on dry land they will be laying them on asallow part of water.Increasly the trees in the fire salamander habitat are getting cut down ,so every day more and more fire salamanders are dieing off,so not even is the fire salamanders habitat being threatened, consequently,so is its survival. The typical fire salamander is black with yellow spots, but through out its life they turn a darker black with orange spots, some even have red spots.

Food & Hunting

The fire salamander most of the time hunts at night, and particularly after it rains. It moves along the rain forest floor in search of slow moving prey such as worms, slugs, snails, wood lice, earwigs, and centipedes. After spotting its prey, the fire salamander seizes it from side to side before swollowing it.In their tadpole stage, fire salamander feed on small worms and other tiny aquatic insects.

LIFECYCLE OF THE FIRE SALAMANDER

{1}After an eight month peirod the female is ready to deposit the tadpoles in a small pool of water. At this stage they are fully aquatic.

{2}At approximately three months, the tadpoles' feathery gills are replaced by lungs, and their legs develop.

{3}The third and final stage, resembling a miniature replica of the adult, the young salamander leaves the water to live on land.
