Amphibians are animals with a backbone so they are vertebrates.They are just like mammals,fish,reptiles and birds.Amphibians are different from the other groups because they have moist,they dont have scales,hair,feathers,or claws.The word amphibians is a greek word{amphibios}which means two lives :there are two different basic groups of amphibians.The first group is toads and frogs,the sencond group is newts and salamanders.Amphibians are ''cold blooded animals'',which means that their body temperature is the same as what the air temperature is water or soil.some of the frogs in the world can even suvive freezing temperatures.All amphibians use their thin,moist skin to take in oxygen.Many breathe through gills,especially when in their laval stage.
