 Makeup Ideas
(for our skit)

Makeup is a marvelous and important piece of theater. It helps the audience to believe! It can change your appearance completely, whether it be to a princess or the Swamp-thing. In the theater, everyone (even guys!) wear makeup. Makeup is used generously and colorfully. The way you fix your hair is also a major part of a skit. The makeup and hair tips we are about to share, are to be used for the short skit on this web page.

You will need:

foundation
facial powder
blush
eye shadow (preferably blue)
black eye pencil
brown eye pencil
light pink lipstick
mascara
baby powder
and hair accessories

Rachel- When applying makeup always start with a clean face. Then apply a layer of foundation, close to the color of your skin. Rachel is the youngest, and her makeup needs to tell the audience this. Rachel needs to have blush that is very bright and colorful. The blush should be applied in a circular motion rather than along the cheekbone, this gives more of an impression of a young rosy cheeked girl. Extra eyelashes should be added to the outside corner of each eye. To do this make about three, slightly curved lines that are about an inch long with the black eye pencil. Next, take the brown eye pencil and make small round dots over the cheeks and nose to resemble freckles. Use the pastel pink lipstick, also. Rachel's hair should be in pig tails.

Megan- Megan's makeup is exactly the same as Rachel's, except that Megan's blush should be applied along the cheekbone. Megan's hair should be put into a pony tail or some other hairstyle that a girl, about the age of eight would wear. Simply make sure that the hairstyle is different than Rachel's.

Taylor- Taylor's makeup resembles both of his "sisters". The differences are that he has one less eyelash on each eye, and that his blush is applied the same way that Megan's is, instead of like Rachel's.

Mom- There needs to be a definite difference between the adults and the kids, even if they are the same age. The makeup and hairstyle are a major part, for the audience, to be able to know the difference. The Mom shouldn't have freckles or eyelashes, because these make her look more like a child. She should have mascara and eye shadow, though. Her blush should be applied like Megan's. Her hair should be up in a business woman's style.

Dad- Dad's makeup is pretty basic. The only thing that is different is his mustache. He doesn't need any mascara, eye shadow, extra eyelashes, or freckles. He still needs blush, along the cheekbone, and lipstick though. The mustache is made by making lines, with the brown eye pencil, that run from the nose to the upper lip of the mouth.

Grandma- Grandma's makeup is exactly the same as Mom's except that Grandma has wrinkles. These are made by taking the black eye pencil and making lines straight out from the outside corner of each eye. You then take your finger and individually smudge each the pencil line. You then put a light layer of facial powder over the top of the wrinkles. This softens the lines and makes them look like wrinkles instead of just black lines. For Grandma's hair you will need to put it up in a bun. Now, close your eyes, plug your nose, and dump on the baby powder. What's a Grandma without gray hair?

Grandpa- Grandpa's makeup is the exactly the same as Dad's. Grandpa's hair is powdered gray like Grandma's.
