Retreating Glaciers
The last recorded period of retreating glaciers was at the end of
the Ice Age which was about 20,000 to 10,000 years ago. They also
retreated during the 20th century. Both periods show an increase in
atmospheric carbon dioxide. During the 20th century the melting or
retreating has been going faster in this process, since the last Ice
Age or after the Ice Age.
Also, the rate of glaciers melting, compared to the increase in
temperature is probably much higher now then when it happened or
accured during the Ice Age or when the Ice Age ended.
