General Horatio Gates

General Horatio Gates was an American general in The Battle of Sarartoga. He replaced General Philip Schuyler on August 19, 1777. Gates was 50 years old when he became general in The Battle of Saratoga. He was a former English officer and lived in Virginia before the war.He led the American army to a victory in The Battle of Saratoga over the British and their general John Burgoyne. General Horatio Gates was a big part of The Battle of Saratoga and the American victory. He will be remembered as one of the greatest American generals of all time.
