Louis Armstrong

Louis Armstrong was born in New Orleans on July 4, 1900, and died on July 6, 1971, in New York City! Can you believe he died two days after his own birthday? Not only did he use instruments he also used his mouth to act as an instrument.  Some of his songs were very famous such as:

" Heebie Jeebies" , "Hello Dolly", ‘Skid-Dat -De-Dat,” “ S.O.L. Blues,” “High Society,” “West End Blues,” “Weather Bird,”  “Tight Like This,” “ Hotter Than That,” “ Cornet Chop Suey.”

One night on New Year’s Eve Louis fired a .38 pistol that belonged to one of his stepfathers. After he did this he was sent to the Colored Waifs’ Home For Boys.

Louis Armstrong was not only a Jazz trumpet soloist but also a bandleader, composer, and vocalist.  When Louis Armstrong died we were sad but to this day admire his chunk of talent in Jazz history!
