Cole Porter Cole Porter was a famous musician born in 1891. He was born in Peru, and showed an early interest in music. Some of his first songs were published when he was 11. Many others were published while he was attending Yale and Harvard University. In 1920 and 1921 he studied music in Peru, and this provided him with ideas to produce his first Broadway shows, Fifty Million Frenchmen and Gay Divorce`. Besides these he wrote many other shows. After a successful career in music he permanently injured both legs in a horseback riding accident. After being in a wheelchair for 27 years he died in 1964.
