For
many years in Wildwood, New Jersey, the National Marble
Tournament has been held in the month of July.
A girl named Amanda had a very valuable
set of marbles worth millions. They were made of glass
with rubies in the middle. She received them
from her mom for her tenth birthday.
Amanda was planning on showing them to
everybody she knew. She invited all her
pals to her house for a party in honor of her marbles.
She put her marbles in a cedar case on the kitchen
counter. As time passed, Amanda was
ready to show off her treasure. She
reached into the case and pulled out her cherished
marbles. Everyone oohed and aahed, especially Bette. Amanda
was pleased that everyone liked her million dollar marbles. As the party
went on, Amanda and her friends played marble games. Julie really
liked these a lot! They did other party stuff, except for Sheila,
she was hooked on the punch. Then it was time to go home. Sam
seemed very eager to leave, but... that just could have been nature calling.
As Amanda was seeing her friends out, it was very windy and everyoneís
skirts, blouses, and dresses were blowing in the wind. All
except for Susan, and she was wearing a chiffon
party dress! That was suprising. But, noone seemed to notice anything odd.
Amanda thought it would be best to check her spectacular valuables, so
she went into the kitchen to check on her marbles. She opened the
cedar case on the kitchen table. To her amazement,
the case was empty! Since marbles canít walk away, she suspected
that they were stolen. Quickly and serenely
Amanda went outside to see if her friends were still there. All of
them were there with their parents. She knew she had to tell them,
so she said, ìI have an announcement to make. Someone has stolen
my new marbles!î
CAN YOU GUESS WHO STOLE THE
MILLION DOLLAR MARBLES?
