Geological science teaches us that crystals are substances with molecules that are arranged in regular repeating patterns. Most minerals have regular crystal arrangements. The arrangements determine how a mineral looks on the outside. For example, quartz is classified as a "hexagonal" crystal. The other classification are: Triclinic, monoclinic, orthorhombic, tetragonal and cubic. |
