Once a long time ago the world had no color. The only thing with color was the purple lake. Then one day all the animals asked the spirit to bring color to the world. So the spirit said come to the lake at dawn and I will tell you what to do. So all the animals came.

Then the spirit asked who would like to go first? Everyone was quite until a little bird volunteered. The spirit told him to fly to the middle of the lake and to duck his head three times and stand perfectly still on a rock until dry. So the little bird did exactly what he was told, and he was the first Bluebird.

Then another bird volunteered. He did the same thing and turned into the first Blue Jay. Then a wolf said he would go. The spirit said to swim to the middle of the lake and duck your head three times and stand still on the rock until you are dry. The wolf did so until he got to the rock. When he wasn't quite dry he said look at me. Because the wolf didn't wait until he was dry, his fur wasn't changed into a bright color. That's why the wolf is still brown today.
