Fort Sumter is located at the border
of South Carolina. The south wanted to take the United States flag down
and put up the Confederate flag. At 4:30 am on April 12,1861, the Confederate
guns opened fire on Fort Sumter as Northern ships
neared the spot. The cannonballs marked the beginning of the Civil War.
This war was hard for the North because they lost one of the major arsenals.
The war lasted for 34 hours. Luckily there was no one killed from
the North and the South. That is Fort Sumter.
