A Tiger's Body

First of all a tiger is a mammal, so a tiger has three basic body parts.  They are: a head, a torso, and a back end.  Tigers have stripes.  These stripes help camouflage the tigers.  You may be thinking "Why would a tiger need camouflage?"  The answer is so it can sneak up on its prey.  A tiger catches its prey one out of every six tries on the average, because of its stripes.  A tiger can, at the most, live up to three weeks without food.  A newborn tiger has many more stripes than an adult.  This is because without camouflage a tiger cub would swiftly become a meal for a number of animals.  Newborn cubs weigh about five pounds and are the size of a small cat.  Tigers live up to about eleven years of age.  A tiger's tail helps it balance when running fast to catch its prey.  Tigers are carnivores.  Carnivores are animals that eat meat instead of plants.
