Viruses
          There are many viruses discovered everyday.  Some really exist and some don't.  We've listed some info about harmful viruses and non-existing viruses below.  The non-existing viruses are hoaxes.  These message are still harmful but they are not viruses.  If you receive any mail that is titled any of the titles below DO NOT read, forward, or send it to anyone.  Some of these hoaxes can erase everything on your hard drive & others are just to scare new Internet users.

        Why do you think you have a virus?

        1. If anti-virus software found a virus in your computer, it might be a false alarm. Listed below are some common false alarms:

        • Only one file is infected on your hard disk.
        • The infected file is not a program (COM or EXE).
        • The virus is not in a list of common viruses.
        • Virus is found in memory only and not in any other file.
        • You have more than one anti-virus software in your computer.
        • The anti-virus doesn't name the virus it found.
        2. If you have one of the following problems in your computer and you think this is a virus, then you are really probably wrong!  Many people think they've got a virus, but they really have are just problems caused by their computer hardware, software, or just errors that the user has made.
        • Hard disk does not boot
        • Hard disk light seems to blink for no particular reason
        • Floppy disk can't be written or read
        • Strange characters or graphics appear on the screen
        3. Below are some real indicators of viruses:
        • Anti-virus found many files on the disk infected with the same virus.
        • The virus was found in executable files (COM and EXE) or in a boot sector in the disk.
        • The virus is one of the common viruses
        • Several executable (COM and EXE) files on your disk are all larger than they used to be.
        • Windows will not start in the 32 bit disk or file access mode.
