Division

To divide you have to share a number evenly by another number.   When you divide you are really telling how many are in each group.

When you have 9 in total and are dividing by three, you want to know how many are in three groups.

ex. .........  /  ...= ... 

or  .........  /  ...= ...|...|...=...

There are four ( 4 ) pens in the zoo.  There are twelve ( 12 ) gorillas.  How many gorillas go in each pen?
