Multiplication

To multiply is to add groups of one number.  This is easier than adding it numerous times, and it is faster.

ex. 5x3 or 3x5

5 groups of 3 ( 5x3 )         . . .    . . .    . . .     . . .      . . .

or

3 groups of 5 ( 3x5 )   . . . . .    . . . . .    . . . . .

Tim bought four beanie babies.  He paid seven dollars for each one.  How much does it cost altogether?

OK, there are two ways to do this. You can:

(1)--- multiply the number of beanie babies (4) by the number of beanie babies by their cost (7).

or

(2)---Multiply the beanie babies cost (7) by their number (4).

Tim spent $28 on beanie babies, what a waste!!!!!
