Giraffe

The word giraffe comes from the Arabic meaning "creature of grace". It is the tallest, living creature on the earth. A full grown male can grow up to eighteen feet from the bottom of its hoof to the tips of its horns. The legs of a giraffe are strong enough to crush a lion's skull with one savage kick. In a fight between a giraffe and a lion, it is usually the giraffe that is the winner. A giraffe has seven bones in there neck. As much as we do. Of course, their's are a lot bigger than ours! The record for the tallest giraffe is 6 m. (20 ft.)

The baby giraffe is almost six feet tall when it is born.

The giraffe can find food in treetops and places that no other animal can reach.
