The Hammerhead Shark

The Hammerhead is found in waters all over the world except the Arctic region. The Hammerhead is a unique shark because it's head is shaped like a hammer, and its eyes are located on the sides of its strangely shaped head.

The Hammerhead may grow up to 20 ft. long and weigh up to 2,000 lbs. During the day, the Hammerhead swims in deep waters. However, at night it feeds in shallow waters. The Hammerheads diet consists of mainly small fish, crabs, and squid.

Just like ants, Hammerheads leave an electric trail going from their pod to where they are going. They use their electric sensors located around their nose to find their way back to the pod.

When hunters catch Hammerhead they will cut their pectoral fins off and throw the shark back into the water. Hunters do this so they can make medicines and soups. Therefore they get big money from restaurants and other sources.
