Ethics and Issues
Ethics and issues are important in the planning of a city. We looked at some of the problems that cities are facing now so we could create ideas to fix them in the future. For example we wanted to makes sure our city was attractive, clean, safe, convenient and zoned correctly. We looked at recycling, public safety, traffic control, etc. We had a lot of disagreements about how we could do these things. We learned how to put our ideas together and come to an agreement through the process of discussion and compromise.
Trends
When building a city, looking at trends is very important to predict the future. We wanted to look at things in the past and improve them in the future. Our trends were chosen by what is happening now in Honolulu and what things we wanted to change.
We investigated lots of trends, and we thought technology was the most important. It helps with communication, allows us to get information quickly and it even provides entertainment. People are finding more technology because we are in the information age.
These are some examples of the technology trends for different parts of the city. In the future, we predict major technology changes. For example, people will be using robots for all types of things like cleaning, protection, etc. Comunication will be growing more and more in the future for things like talking to people all over the world. The last important thing is multiple use that will be expanding more and more for example for homes and shopping centers and other public places.
