Grizzly
| A grizzly is a big brown bear.Lewis and Clark found the bear in the Rockie Mountains and around there.They had listened to the indians and they talked so much of the grizzlies and how big and mean they were they just thought that they were legends (until they met up with them).It took seven bullets to shoot one bear!The grizzly bear was new to science at the time.They first called the grizzly a white bear.Because of how dangerous the bear was no one was aloud to leave camp alone. |  |
Antelope
| Antelope are shy and deer type animal.Lewis and Clark
found the animal in the plains of Montana.Eventually after they got a shot at it they sent back a skeleton and skull to President Jefferson.The antelope was known as a goat to Lewis and Clark. |

Buffalo
| Buffalo (bison) are furry big animals that are found in the
plains of Montana.Lewis and Clark found the buffalo in the plains of Montana.They enjoyed the hump and tongue to eat the most.They used the buffalo for a lot of their tools and clothing too. They used every single part of the body to use as much as they wanted.When they came across the buffalo they could not count them all. |

Beaver
| The corps thought that the beavers were the best tasting.Beaver hats
were very popular back then.They took the beavers for pelts in such numbers.Because the corps trapped so many there weren't very many by the rivers any more. |
