Sayings

This page will give you helpful hints, that will help you spell for the rest of your life! Also we just wanted to tell you that these rules don't ALWAYS apply to each word, but they mostly do.

1. "I" before "E" exept after "C"

2. "Q" before "U"

3. When a word ends in a "Y"and is preceded by a consonant , change the "Y" to an "I" before adding a suffix begining with a vowel. For example, plenty + ful is plentiful.

4. Drop the "E" before a vowel. For example, love + ing is loving. There might be an exception to this rule in a few words.

5. If you have a one syllable word like run or fun, double the final consonant before adding a suffix. For example, run + er= runner and fun + y= funny.
