Platypus The Australian Platypus is mammal with a duck-like bill, a beaver-like tail and fur, webbed feet for swimming and lays eggs! They are also the only mammal known to be venomous. The
venom is produced in glands in their thighs which are connected to spurs. Althought males
and females both have spurs females loose theirs after a year or so. The males use them
for defense. |
