Astrology
It began centuries ago, before science, as a way to explain early man's
world, sky, and early man himself.
Today, astrology is
a huge world-wide industry. It includes thousands of websites, books, crystal
balls, tarot cards, personal readings (even for people who aren't born yet), horoscopes
(you can have them emailed to you daily), 900 numbers, key chains, books, t-shirts...just
about anything there is, you can get with your sign on it..
Guano
Guano is actually bat droppings. For centuries, guano has
been used as fertilizer all over the world. The Incas of Peru placed such a high value on
it that they would kill anyone causing harm to a bat. Originally,
Carlsbad Caverns in New Mexico was not known for its gigantic caves.
It was a place where they harvested guano as fertilizer. When people
found out how incredible the caverns were supposed to be, the original
tourists were lowered down inside the guano buckets.
Guano was
pretty much replaced by chemical fertilizers this century. But,
more farmers are looking back to guano now. A single pound of guano costs around $15.00!
Fur
Fur has always been worn by
man in all cultures. Early man used fur as clothing. Now, man-made cloth has pretty
much turned the need for us to wear fur into something we wear because it looks good and
is very warm. But, it's very expensive. Fur is a 4.4 billion-dollar industry
worldwide. Selling mostly coats made from both ranch-raised and trapped animals, most
nocturnal furbearers (fox, raccoon, coyote, lynx, skunk etc...) support it.
