Experiment With Strings

Take a square block of wood and nail four nails in it like you see in the picture below.

Stretch some string, or rubber band, or fishing line between the nails and attach. You can either tie it if it is fishing line or string or just stretch it if it is rubber band.

[Sound Experiment]

Twang the line. Do you hear how the difference in sound between the longer and the shorter lines?

Now tighten the line and twang it. Now loosen the line and twang it. The pitch changes whenever you change the tightness, thickness, or length of the string.
