Snappers are very valued food fish.
They are caught by bottom fishing, a gill net, and spear fishing.
There are about 23 kinds of snappers around Guam.
Many snappers live in deep water. They eat larval crustaceans, tunicates,
and other fish. The blue-lined snapper lives in reef habitats.
The flame-tail snapper lives in lagoons and outer reef areas. And
the one spot snapper lives in the outer lagoon and the seaward reefs.
A red snapper is not safe to eat because it is poisonous, but the other
snappers are safe to eat. |
