Questions: 

Marc: What is your job in the Navy and what exactly do you do? 
Scimio: Navy divers fix ships, and submarines. 

Florencia: When did you start diving? 
Scimio: 1984, Age 23 

Erika: Where has been the most interesting, and exciting place that you've ever dived before?  Why? 
Scimio: The blue hole, because of how deep and clear it is. 

Marc: Can you name some locations on Guam that are excellent dive spots? 
Scimio: The blue hole, and Tokai Maru, because there is a lot of coral and fish.

Florencia: What types of creatures do you see underwater? 
Scimio: Octopus, jacks, and yellow spotted trevally. 

Erika: How big was the biggest fish you ever saw? 
Scimio: 18 feet long, it was a swordfish.  We had to lift it up with a winch. 

Marc: Have you ever dived in the Marinas Trench? 
Scimio: No. 

Florencia: How deep have you dived? 
Scimio: I usually dive 40 ft. to work on ships.  When I dive for fun, I  look at things that are 100-130 ft. deep. 

Erika: What types of weapons do you use? 
Scimio: A knife. 

Marc: Do you go spear fishing?  What are the most common types of fish caught on Guam? 
Scimio:  No I don’t go spear fishing.  And the most common type of fish caught on Guam is the yellowfin tuna. 

Florencia: What are some rules for diving? 
Scimio: Always dive with a buddy. 

Erika: Who goes diving with you? 
Scimio: Friends. 

Marc: Is it safe to dive alone? 
Scimio: No. 

Florencia: What do you see underwater besides fish? 
Scimio: Coral, and ship wrecks. 

Erika: What kinds of equipment do you use? 
Scimio: AGA 2, regulators, and scuba gear. 

Marc: How much air do you need in a half hour dive?Diving Hoses 
Scimio: Less than one tank. 

Florencia: How clear is the water? 
Scimio: At the blue hole you can see 60 feet or more down. 

Erika: What kind of coral do you see? 
Scimio: Fan coral, and brain coral. 

Marc: How do you prepare for a dive? 
Scimio: Check stuff such as the scuba tank pressure, check equipment, and regulators.

Florencia: How old do you have to be to dive? 
Scimio: You can take diving lessons at the age 12. 

Erika: Where do you mostly dive? 
Scimio: Apra Harbor. 

Marc: What types of dives do you do? 
Scimio: Day working dives, and cleaning propellers. 

Florencia: Have you ever seen any harmful animals?  If so how do you protect yourself? 
Scimio: Yes, the lion fish, stone fish, and jellyfish.  All I do is avoid it. 

Erika: Are the waters of Guam polluted? 
Scimio: No. 

Marc: What does the community do  to make the waters of Guam safe for humans and plant life? 
Scimio: Coastal cleanup.  Anchoring buoys.  Reef clean-up after typhoon Paka. 

Florencia: Is there anything else you would like to add to this interview?
