The octopus
has a short funnel that sticks out. The octopus has eight legs which
are
really called tentacles. They are used for crawling or picking up
things. The father octopus takes one tentacle and puts it under the
mother's skin. Later the mother lays thousands of eggs and the mother
guards the eggs for weeks. Then she squirts clean water on the eggs
and uses her suckers to dust off the dirt on the eggs. When the babies
are born the mother will die and she'll never she her babies ever again.
The octopus, squid, cuttlefish, and nautiluses are invertebrates
which means that they are animals without skeletons although
they may have shells. Octopus relatives are cephalopods which means
head footed creatures. |
