The Amish and Modern Technology
We always thought that the Amish didn't
use technology and that they are forbidden from using anything modern to
help them in their daily lives, but we were wrong. We read two good articles
from Wired Magazine that surprised us.
The Amish do use disposable diapers,
skates, gas grills, and cell phones! They feel it is ok as long as they
are not used in their own home, but in a place where everyone in their
group can use it. They also use computers and are online! They sort of
stretch the truth a bit when they explian how they can use these things
without forgetting that they're Amish. They say that since they use batteries,
not power from an electric company that it's ok.
