Bacon Dressing For Dandelion

Ingredients:
3 slices bacon
1 beaten egg
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons sugar
1/4 up vinegar
1/2 cup water
2 hard cooked eggs
dandelion greens, washed

Cut bacon into small pieces and fry until crisp. Mix together into a bowl the egg, salt, sugar, vinegar, and water. Pour into pan with bacon and cook until thickened. Cool slightly before pouring over the washed dandelion. Slice two hard cooked eggs over the salad and serve immediately.

 Amish Friendship Bread

1 package of active dry yeast
2 cups of flour - sifted
2 1/2 of warm water
1 tablespoon of sugar
1 cup oil
3 cups sugar
3 cups of flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
4 eggs
1 vanilla pudding mix - small box
2 teaspoons of cinnamon
1 teaspoon of salt
2 cups of milk

For Starter:

Dissolve yeast in 1/2 of warm water in a deep glass or plastic container.
DO NOT REFRIGERATE! The starter requires ten days for fermentation.

Day 1  Begin or receive starter
Day 2  Stir
Day 3  Stir
Day 4  Stir
Day 5  Add 1 cup sugar, 1 cup flour, 1 cup milk
Day 6  Stir

Day 7  Stir
Day 8  Nothing
Day 9  Nothing
Day 10  Add 1 cup sugar, 1 cup flour, 1 cup milk

Put 1 cup of starter in each of the three containers; give to friends. This will begin their DAY 1.

To the remaining batter add:
1 cup oil, 1 cup sugar, 1 cup flour, baking powder, eggs, vanilla pudding mix, cinnamon, and salt.

Beat with fork until well blended. Add one cup raisins or nuts, if desired. Grease 2 loaf pans and sprinkle with sugar instead of flour. Bake at 325 degrees for one hour.

                                                SHOO-FLY PIE 

                            ** This is a semi-moist shoo-fly pie recipe** 
 

* Crumb Mixture: 

    * 1 1/2 cups flour 
    * 1 tsp baking powder 
    * 1/2 cup sugar 
    * 1/8 cup shortening 

* Liquid: 

    *1/2 cup hot water 
    *3/4 tsp soda 
    *1/2 cup corn syrup molasses 
 
 

          Combine the four ingredients on the crumb mixture, using hands to work into crumbs....Set aside 2-3 tablespoons of the crumb mixture....Lina an 8- or 9-inch pie pan with pastry....Combine the three ingredients
