Habitat and Habits
-live on the Indonesian islands
        -hilly and sparsely covered with rainforest
        -lowland areas
        -consist of open grassland and palm trees
        -Indonesian islands support a wide range of subtropical plants and animals
-cold blooded
-sleeps during night
    -resting places include tree roots, and rocks
-as sun rises and warms blood, they become active and set out to search for food
-they are fast moving and agile on the ground
-occasionally climb trees
        -grip them with large, powerful claws
-good swimmers
        -take long strokes with tail
-solitary
        -when they meet up, they establish a pecking order based on size

Food and Feeding
-eat anything they can catch and over power
-will eat other smaller Komodo Dragons
-eat wild pigs, deer, and monkeys (favorite prey)
-also eat carrion (dead flesh)
-they can move quickly, but only over short distances
-to hunt, they usually wait in ambush, and seize the prey with their jaw
-young Komodos are more mobile than adults
        -they hunt small mammals, nesting birds, and insects
-once prey is caught, Komodos hold it in claws and rip off flesh with teeth
