Habitat and Habits
-live in dense forests around the Congo River Basin
-not territorial, but has definite sleeping and resting areas
-gives off scent between it's hooves to mark it's resting places
-travels in pairs or alone
-active by day

Food and Feeding
-grazer
-eats leaves, seeds, fruit some grasses, ferns, and young shoots of
forests plants
-can reach branches 10 feet above the ground
-uses it's tongue for getting food

Okapi and Man
-British Explorer, Sir Harry Johnston, was the first to discover these
animals, in the 1900's
-when it's skin and bones were examined it was found to be related to
the horse
-it actually is related to the giraffe
-hunted by poachers commercially
