Ohio entered the United States as the 17th state on March 1st, 1803.   The states name is from an Iroquois term meaning "Fine (or good) river." Ohio’s nickname is the Buckeye State.  Tourists spend more than $ 7.8 billion each year in Ohio. Many tourist spend their time at Lake Erie and the numerous inland lakes.  Ohio has 72 state parks. The capital of Ohio is Columbus.
