Missouri

Missouri entered the United States as the 24th state on August 10, 1821. The U.S. acquired Missouri as part of the Louisiana Purchase in 1803. Tourists spend about $5.6 billion in Missouri. Three tourist attractions are Kansas City, St. Louis, and the Ozark region . A main tourist attraction is the arch in St. Louis. Missouri's name is from an Algonquian name for a group that lived near the mouth of the Missouri River. Missouri's nickname is the Show Me State. The capital of Missouri is Jefferson City.
