Minnesot.gif (422 bytes)    Minnesota entered the United States as the 32nd state on May 11, 1858.  The name Minnesota came from a Sioux phrase meaning "cloudy water".  Minnesota’s nickname is the North Star State.  Tourists spend over $3.8 billion in Minnesota.  Tourist sites are the twin cities of Minneapolis and St. Paul and Minnehaha Falls.  Minnesota has 123 state parks and over 15,000 lakes.   The capital of Minnesota is St. Paul.
