

Basketball is one of the most popular sports in the world. in the United States alone there are as many as 200 million persons a year who pay to see basketball games- more admissions than for any other sport. Many people also watch basketball games on television.
In every state boys and girls play basketball in grade school, high school, college, and atheletic clubs. Many teams repesent towns, churches, clubs, and buisnesses. In addition to amateur teams there are many leagues and independent professional clubs throughout the nation.

The free-throw lane is a rectangle bounded by lines.The lane is bounded at one end by the end line of the basktball floor. At the other end, it's bounded by the free-throw lane. Each court has a free-throw lane under each basket. High school and College lanes are 12 feet.
