Make Diamonds You Can Eat

What you need:  a clean jar or glass, one cup of water, 2 cups of sugar, a small saucepan, a piece of thin clean string, a pencil

Directions:

1.  Carefully bring water to boil in saucepan.

2.  Turn off heat, and stir in sugar until it is all dissolved.  Allow to cool for several minutes.

3.  Tie the string around the pencil.  Rest the pencil on the jar top and let the string dangle into the jar.

4.  Pour the cooled sugar solution into the jar.  Set the jar in a warm place and do not disturb for several days.

5.  Soon sugar diamonds will begin to form on the string.   You can pick them off and eat them!
