RAP
Rap music was first started in New York City in the 1970's. It is spoken or chanted very fast instead of being sung. Rap is usually chanted by African Americans. "Rapper's Delight, " by the Sugar Hill Gang, was the first rap hit. The disc jockeys in Jamaica were the biggest inspiration of all. They would play in clubs and had their own style, known as the dub.
Rap music has many various trends. Songs and artists can be popular one day, and not mean anything the next. Sometimes, artists have only one song that becomes popular. Others have many popular songs. Rap sometimes will tell stories or sometimes just feelings and happenings. It is loved and listened to by many.
