Popular or pop music is a combination of different types of music. Some of the many styles of pop music in the USA include bluegrass, blues, country, gospel, jazz, musical comedy, rap, reggae, and rock. It is easily distinguished from classical and folk music.

The subjects of popular music can vary greatly, from love to songs written about social commentary.

Popular music is frequently thought of as songs which only have meaning and popularity in the time that they were created, but some songs stay popular and endure for centuries.
