JAZZ

Jazz is an old traditional form of music. It was developed in the 1800's. Jazz is influenced by a combination of things, including African rhythms, American band traditions and instruments and European harmonies and forms. People from many other countries contribute to jazz, but most jazz is still written and performed in the United States of America.

Jazz is usually improvised. Improvisation is when you just make something up as you go along. Improvisation in music takes a lot of talent. Another thing about improvisation is that it makes it so that each song varies greatly from others.

The first jazz was performed by African American people who had very little experience in Western music. Jazz has been influenced by classical and folk music from Africa, Asia, and many other parts of the world. Jazz is greatly appreciated throughout the world even though it has changed very much since it was first developed. It will probably continue to change but will still be loved by many audiences.
