Country

Country music is a traditional American form of music. This particular form of music often has a singing accompaniment by a person from the southern part of the U.S. Country music started up in the 1800's. It is influenced by a combination of British and Anglo-American folk music, religious music and the blues. Country music is also sometimes called Western music.

 

Country radio programs began at about the same time it started to be recorded, the 1920's. Then, country started to extract fans from outside the south and it started to become very popular. By the mid-1900's country had become more popular than any other kind of music in our history. Country continues to be popular and has many different styles. Country music attracts large crowds and gives people a taste of something different.
