Blues is a style of music developed by African Americans. Blues has contributed to the development of many other different kinds of music such as rock, folk, country, and classical. Many blues songs express feelings of loneliness and sorrow. But they can also express humor and hopeful feelings of trying to overcome life's troubles.
Blues probably developed after the Civil War. Field hollers and wails of workers communicating in the fields were the very first blues music. In the late 1800's, blues developed in the Mississippi Delta.
By the early 1900's, blues had reached the ears of many people. Blues has a very interesting history and is still popular among many.
