I am going to teach you about how to find books about
particular countries or states.
Let's pretend that you have to do a report on Greece,
and you have no clue where you can find a book about Greece.
I have several tricks that will help you. Here is one:
Remember that the 900's are
Geography& History?
The 910's are Geography.
The 930's-999's are History.
Now you go to the card catalog and look up Greece. It tells you to look for the book in 914.8.
This is the call number for the Geography of Greece. You walk over to the shelf and look for it, but there are no books that help you in your report. There's another place to look!
This is where the trick comes in.
You simply drop the 1, like this:
Home
"Dew" It
Again
Geography and History
Country Numbers page 2
Country Numbers page 3
Country Numbers page 4
Next, you move your decimal point over one space, to the right, like this:
This now changes your number from 914.8 to 948 -
the History of Greece!
