Here is a great kid search engine:

  • Yahooligans!(makers of Yahoo!)

All of the regular search engines will give you many different sites, but Yahooligans does not give as many because they narrow it down to the sites kids would visit.

You can type in more then one word when you search and you can type anything. When you want 2 words to be on the website or about the website you type a + in between the words with no space.

When you search also make sure you spell the word correctly because if you don't, you will not get the websites you want and it might say it did not find anything. So make sure you spell it right!

You can usally click on the name of the site that is in blue and go straight to that site. Also, sometimes there is a little caption that explains what it is about. There also might be "more like this" in blue and you can click on that and get a discription of the site. This is very helpful because you might go to a site that has nothing to do with what you want. Say a word has multiple meanings, without a caption you could go to a site that has nothing to do with what you want. They save time.

Sometimes you might get an error message when you click on the site because it is either restricted (you are not allowed to go there) or there is no such site. If it says "no such site" that means there is no site or the address is wrong. If you get this message you will probably not be able to go to this site.

If you want to go to a search engine click on one of the names in blue. You can pick the one you want to go to. If you want to get the address either click on the blue area (which is the name) or hold the mouse over the blue area without clicking and it will apear in a little box.
