Before A Hurricane...

Make sure that you have all items listed on the supply list.

Check to make sure all emergency equipment is good and in working order.

Make sure that you have enough supplies to last for two weeks.

Trim trees and shrubs. Make sure that you cut off weak limbs that could fall.

Don't trim trees and shrubs after a hurricane watch or warning has been issued. Trash service will be suspended during this time and yard waste can become very dangerous in high wind speeds.

If you are disabled or need transportation to a public shelter register in advance with your towns Office of Emergency Management.

Board up house or lower storm shutters. It is important that wind from the storm has no point of entry into your home or apartment.

Fill a bathtub with clean water. To ensure that there is water available in case it becomes needed.
