Declaration of Independence

In June of 1776 the colonists decided to make a document saying what they wanted.  In the document it said that one important idea was that all people are created equal. They have the right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. The second idea was that if the first right could not be kept correctly the people have the right to change the government.  This document was mostly written by the future third president Thomas Jefferson.  On the day of July 4,1776 the Continental Congress approved the document.  This document is called the Declaration of Independence.
